An excellent choice for early colour in shady borders, this hardy perennial produces upright stems topped with delicate, pale pink flowers that fade from near-white with purple veining to a soft blush as they age.

The small blooms appear in late spring and early summer and are a useful early food source for pollinators. Geranium phaeum 'Wendy's Blush' has a clump-forming habit and attractive lobed green foliage, which helps to suppress weeds and create low-maintenance ground cover.

Like other dusky cranesbills, it's well-suited to woodland-style planting or areas with dappled light.

How to care for Geranium phaeum Wendy's Blush:

Geranium phaeum, and its cultivars, prefer reliably moist to damp soils with some shade. When planting, incorporate a scoop of well-rotted compost into the planting hole and water in well.

Once established, in midsummer rejuvenate plants that are beginning to look jaded, by removing old flowered stems and leaves.

After a couple of seasons, lift and divide large clumps in spring to maintain plant health and vigour.
