Helleborus 'Grace Elizabeth'

Lenten rose hellebore

Product Image
Bringing a welcome lift to the garden when little else is stirring, this refined perennial shines in the quieter months and earns its place as a reliable winter star. Neat, clump-forming and well behaved, it slips easily into borders, containers or woodland-style planting, where it thrives in dappled shade and sheltered spots.

The glossy, dark green foliage forms a handsome backdrop to nodding, open-faced flowers that appear from winter into early spring. Each bloom shows off soft white petals gently washed with blush pink and hints of fresh green at the centre, creating a subtle, elegant look rather than anything showy.

Tough, long-lived and easy to care for, Helleborus ‘Grace Elizabeth’ is ideal for underplanting shrubs, lining paths or brightening areas near the house, proving that even the shadiest corners can feel inviting with the right plant choice.

How to care for Helleborus Grace Elizabeth:

Add lots of well-rotted leaf mould or organic matter to the planting hole. Cut the old leaves back down to the ground in January or February as this will show off the new emerging flowers to best effect. It will also help to reduce/minimise the spread of any foliar diseases (such as hellebore leaf spot if present.

Apply a generous 5-7cm (2-3in) mulch of well-rotted organic matter around the base of the plant in autumn and provide a top-dressing of general fertiliser each spring. Cut off the seed heads to prevent inferior seedlings colonising.
