Japanese iris ( syn. Iris kaempferi )
An elegant addition to pond or stream margins, this Iris is also suitable for smaller gardens where it can be used in watertight pots or barrels. Its upright, strappy leaves make a great contrast to a flat expanse of water, while the showy summer flowers add impact and colour.
How to care for Iris ensata:
To encourage healthy growth of roots, foliage and flowers, feed with a general-purpose or slow-release aquatic fertiliser. Remove yellow or brown leaves to keep the plant healthy and the water clean. Cut water iris to just above the water line in autumn if you live in a cooler part of the country.
