Lupinus 'Towering Inferno' (PBR)

west country lupin

Product Image
Plumes of fiery, orange-red pea-like blooms rise up in upright racemes from a leafy cushion of palmate foliage. 'Towering Inferno' burns brightly in the summer border, fanning the flames of any ‘hot’ planting scheme. This vigorous, clump-forming, herbaceous perennial flowers from June to July.

How to care for Lupinus Towering Inferno (PBR):

Plant lupins in full sun with well-drained, slightly acidic to neutral soil, avoiding heavy clay. Water regularly while establishing, but once mature they become more tolerant to dry conditions.

Stake tall cultivated varieties with bamboo canes in spring before flowers appear, and remove faded blooms to encourage a second flush. Mulch lightly in winter to protect roots, and watch for slugs and snails on young growth.
