Pink & white tulip collection
tulip collection
- Position: Full sun
- Soil: Moderately fertile, moist, well-drained soil
- Rate of growth: Average
- Flowering period: May
- Hardiness: Fully hardy
A fresh combination, which can be used on its own, or to bump up a display with softer pinks. lilacs and purples.
In each of these collections you will receive the following bulbs:
- Tulipa 'Catherina': This tall and elegant tulip will add poise to the planting scheme. It's a single late tulip, so has large flowers on sturdy stems that rise above the grey-green foliage in May. Their flower colour is palest yellow (almost white with a buttery blush), so they are good for mixing with stronger yellows, or for contrast, rich purples and plums. My advice would be to plant more than you need as they are also excellent for cutting. Grows to 60cm.
- Tulipa 'Barcelona': A very conventionally shaped flower for a tulip, but it has outstandingly vibrant colour that makes it a real show-off. The stems are sturdy making them ideal for windy or exposed spots, and the flowers are quite long lasting. If you want a really daramtic show, mix them with strong purples or reds, or tone them down with softer pinks. Grows to 45cm.
- Humans: Harmful if eaten; skin allergen; Pets: Ornamental bulbs - not to be eaten
