Weigela middendorffiana 'Mango'

weigela or weigelia

Product Image
A striking and reliable deciduous shrub, Weigela middendorffiana 'Mango' forms an upright mound of lush leafy stems, which in late spring to early summer, are topped with open clusters of creamy-yellow bell-shaped flowers, each with a distinctly mottled orange-pink throat.

How to care for Weigela middendorffiana Mango:

Plant Weigela in well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade for best flowering. They prefer a sheltered spot and will tolerate most soil types, as long as they’re not in soils prone to waterlogging, especially in winter.

Water regularly during dry spells in the first year to help establish the root system. Apply a balanced fertiliser in spring to encourage strong growth and good flower production. Mulch annually with well-rotted organic matter to conserve moisture and suppress weeds.

Once established, prune each year in mid-summer after flowering, removing one or two of the older stems to the base and cutting back the flowered stems to strong shoots below the spent flowers to maintain shape and encourage new flowering wood.
