This tree is deciduous so it will lose all its leaves in autumn, then fresh new foliage appears again each spring.

  • Position: full sun
  • Soil: well-drained soil
  • Rate of growth: fast-growing
  • Flowering period: May to June
  • Hardiness: fully hardy

This award-winning laburnum has a naturally slender and upright habit, which makes it ideal for gardens that are smaller than average. Like its close cousin, it looks amazing in late spring or early summer, when the clusters of golden yellow, pea-like flowers drip from the stems. Use it to add vertical interest to the garden - or train the stems onto a pergola or archway to create an eye-catching covered walkway.

  • Garden care: When planting, incorporate lots of well-rotted manure or garden compost into the planting hole and stake firmly. Laburnums don't need much pruning, but you may want to remove any diseased or crossing branches. It is essential that any pruning work is carried out between late summer and mid-winter as the sap will 'bleed' heavily at other times.
  • Humans/Pets: Harmful if eaten
