Anemone nemorosa 'Vestal'

wood anemone bulbs

Product Image
Use these anemones to carpet the ground in a partially shaded spot - either towards the front of a border, or in a more naturalised setting such as a woodland garden. This one has the more unusual double flowerheads, which have a collar of large outer petals surrounding a neat dome-shaped eye that is jam-packed with smaller, shorter ones.

A fast grower, Anemone nemorosa 'Vestal' will spread to form a generous swathe over time, giving you oodles of early spring colour. Underplant with spring flowering bulbs if you wish, or use it to fill the gaps left by deciduous ferns.

How to care for Anemone nemorosa Vestal:

Plant rhizomes horizontally 5–8cm (2–3in) deep in September or October, ideally in humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil. Choose a spot in partial or light shade, such as under deciduous trees, where they can form naturalistic drifts.

Once established, they need little maintenance—avoid disturbance and allow the foliage to die back naturally. Keep the soil moist in spring during active growth, but dry in summer dormancy. Don’t feed, as they thrive in low-nutrient conditions.
