Useful for providing year-round groundcover at the front of the border, the dark green foliage of this decorative perennial takes on a purple flush during the colder weather. Throughout the summer, Origanum laevigatum 'Herrenhausen' is topped with mauve pink flower clusters.

Plant in well-drained, light soil in full sun, or good quality potting compost for pots, adding grit if needed for drainage. Water regularly until established, then only during prolonged dry spells.
