Producing a mass of starburst-like flowerheads throughout the summer, which hover above the mounds of handsomely lobed rich green, foliage, this recently introduced masterwort looks great in naturalised planting schemes or mixed herbaceous borders. Offering a long season of interest (particularly if they are deadheaded regularly), the flowers can also be used in dried arrangements.
How to care for Astrantia major Sparkling Stars Pink (Sparkling Stars Series):
Incorporate plenty of organic matter when planting and water well in dry weather, especially newly established plants. Lift and divide large clumps in early spring and apply a generous 5-7cm mulch of well-rotted manure or garden compost around the plant. Divided specimens may take some time to establish since they don't like having their roots disturbed.
