Prunus × yedoensis 'Ivensii'

flowering cherry blossom tree

Product Image
Prunus × yedoensis 'Ivensii' is a beautiful and vigorous, weeping tree, perfect for a medium-sized garden. Its graceful sweeping shape and cascading form, reminiscent of falling snow, is much admired. In early spring, the tree will be adorned with pure white blossoms, while in autumn, the ovate-shaped leaves will transform into a fiery display of orange and yellow colours.

Weeping with horizontal main branches and drooping slender branchlets, this Yoshino cherry tree will make a lovely single specimen focal point and attract plenty of pollinators with its delicately almond-scented flowers.

How to care for Prunus × yedoensis Ivensii:

Bare root plants should be planted out as soon as they arrive. If this is not possible, they can be heeled in temporarily (covering their roots with soil) or potted up. Before planting, soak the rootball in a bucket of water for half an hour and make sure to incorporate lots of well-rotted garden compost in the planting hole. Stake firmly in exposed positions and keep the base of the tree weed free. Fertilise at the beginning of each year and water regularly during hot, dry spells.

Choose a sheltered spot to protect emerging blossom. Prune in summer to reduce the risk of silver leaf and bacterial canker.
