This striking evergreen houseplant features smooth, glossy leaflets that emerge directly from the ground on fleshy, upright stems, giving it a compact, architectural charm.
Zamioculcas zamiifolia is perfect for adding a touch of green to small spaces without overwhelming them. Its hardy nature makes it an excellent choice for low-maintenance indoor displays, thriving in a range of shady, indirect light conditions.
Occasionally, arum-like green and white flowers may appear in summer at the base of the stems, adding an extra point of interest. This plant is as durable as it is decorative, ideal for both beginners and experienced growers, and prefers a drier root environment over the winter with an occasional misting.
Please note that the pot in the photograph is not supplied with the plant (which is sent out in a simple nursery alternative), but we have a wide and wonderful range on our website to choose from.
How to care for Zamioculcas zamiifolia:
Place fern arum in a bright spot with indirect light, avoiding direct sun which can scorch the leaves, or in a well-lit corner away from drafts and radiators. Allow the top of the compost to dry out between waterings and reduce watering over winter.
Mist the leaves occasionally to maintain humidity, and keep indoor temperatures above 15°C (59°F). Repot every few years in spring, using a well-draining potting mix to prevent root rot, and trim any yellowing or damaged leaves to keep the plant looking tidy.
