This perennial is semi-evergreen so it can lose some of its leaves in winter. In colder regions or more exposed gardens, it may lose them all, but then fresh new growth appears again in spring.

  • Position: full sun
  • Soil: reliably moist or boggy soil, or aquatic compost
  • Depth of water: 0-5cm
  • Rate of growth: average
  • Flowering period: June to September
  • Hardiness: fully hardy

The award-winning and native bog pimpernel forms a dense carpet of semi-evergreen leaves peppered with fragrant, tiny rose-pink flowers from June to September. A great addition to the margins of any pond, bog garden or very shallow water, this pretty, low maintenance aquatic plant requires little trimming and is disease resistant.

  • Garden care: Best planted between mid-February and mid-September, the plant derives all its nutritional needs from the pond water so there’s no need to feed. If this plant becomes untidy, give it a light trim to shape.
