Sweetly scented, deep cerise-pink, bell-shaped summer flowers with creamy centres, followed by silvery seed-heads. This fragrant, non-climbing variety of clematis is perfect for growing in a mixed border in full sun or partial shade. The wispy seed-heads are an important decorative feature, extending the season of interest through to autumn.
To avoid dry conditions, and to ensure good soil contact around the rootball, we advise planting climbers at least 30cm (12in), and preferably 45-60cm (18-24in) away from the base of a wall or fence. An even larger distance should be maintained when planting climbers beside an existing tree or shrub.
Cut back the stems to the base of the plant each winter and apply a mulch of well-rotted garden compost around the plant, avoiding the immediate crown.
