Delosperma cooperi 'Jewel of Desert Garnet' (PBR) (Jewel of Desert Series)
ice plant

One of the new breed, which produces its brightly coloured star-shaped flowers over an incredibly long period - usually from mid-spring to the first frosts. It’s a low-growing plant that looks great in pots, alpine beds or rockeries, or just adding bundles of colour at the front of a sun-drenched border.
How to care for Delosperma cooperi Jewel of Desert Garnet (PBR) (Jewel of Desert Series):
Choose a sunny location with well-draining soil. Loosen the soil and add compost or organic matter to the planting area and backfill, watering thoroughly after planting. Ice plants prefer sandy or rocky soil and can tolerate lean conditions but avoid poorly draining soil. For container planting, use a cactus and succulent mix or add perlite for drainage. Fertilise sparingly, if at all, and water regularly until established, but avoid overwatering to prevent root rot. Prune dead foliage and spent flowers in spring and lightly shear back in late summer to promote growth and winter hardiness.

This perennial is semi-evergreen so it can lose some of its leaves in winter. In colder regions or more exposed gardens, it may lose them all, but then fresh new growth appears again in spring.
