Unlike many of the other dragon trees, Dracaena surculosa does not produce a stout stem topped with a cluster of strap-shaped foliage. Instead, it forms a loose clump of stems, which have lush green oval leaves that become attractively patterned with yellowish green freckles. An easy to grow and undemanding plant, it will add an oriental feel to the indoor display.

Please note that the pot in the photograph is not supplied with the plant (which is sent out in a simple nursery alternative), but we have a wide and wonderful range on our website to choose from.

How to care for Dracaena surculosa:

Water well during the active growing season in spring and summer, keeping the compost evenly moist, but reduce watering in winter to avoid soggy roots. Mist the foliage occasionally to raise humidity, especially in centrally heated rooms. Position in bright, indirect light and keep temperatures ideally between 60-75°F (16-24°C), avoiding drops below 50°F (10°C) in winter. Feed every 2-3 weeks with a balanced liquid houseplant fertiliser during the growing months to support strong foliage.

Repot as required, refreshing the compost to maintain nutrients and vigour.
