This undemanding and easy to grow, ground-cover is a gorgeous sight in late spring and summer when its low mound of grey-green foliage is studded with yellow-eyed, pinkish red flowers. Sun-loving and drought-tolerant (once established), it looks great in gravel gardens or alpine beds, and it's also useful for softening the edges of a path or spilling over the rim of a pot.

This perennial is semi-evergreen so it can lose some of its leaves in winter. In colder regions or more exposed gardens, it may lose them all, but then fresh new growth appears again in spring.
