This gorgeous wildflower can be found colonising damp meadows and woodland edges throughout the UK. It makes a great addition to cottage gardens or more informal planting schemes where there is a reliable supply of moisture.

When seedlings are large enough to handle, pot them up individually and grow them on. Gradually harden off before planting outside after risk of frost, or for autumn-sown seedlings, overwinter in a coldframe.
