Lythrum salicaria 'Feuerkerze'

loosestrife (syn. Lythrum salicaria Firecandle)

Product Image
A clump-forming herbaceous perennial known for its tall, upright stems and striking rose-red flower spikes that bloom from midsummer, creating a bold vertical accent in the garden. Lythrum salicaria 'Feuerkerze' is a double-flowered cultivar that thrives in moisture-retentive soil, making it ideal for boggy areas or pond edges. While it produces fewer seeds, reducing the risk of unwanted seedlings, deadheading after flowering is recommended to further control self-seeding. To maintain vigour, lift and divide large clumps in spring, and plant in full sun for the best display.

How to care for Lythrum salicaria Feuerkerze:

Plant out in reliably moist soil, or pot up into a pond basket and place at the margins of a pond. Apply a generous mulch of well-rotted compost around the base of the plant in early spring. Cut back the faded flowerheads in late summer and autumn as the plant will otherwise self-seed freely.
