A beautiful, deciduous shrub with large (up to 30cm!) goblet-shaped, dark pink-purple springtime flowers that often repeat bloom in summer which is unusual for a magnolia. It suits a sheltered border and will grow in a plant container too where its glossy green foliage will add interest in between its flowering periods. Prefers a slightly acidic soil but will tolerate most soils and is a perfect tree for landscaping, garden settings, or in containers for terraces or balconies out of strong wind.
How to care for Magnolia Emperor (PBR):
Magnolia 'Emperor' needs a sheltered position in full sun and it’s important to avoid frost pockets or wind tunnels that will damage the early buds. Magnolia doesn’t like being transplanted so be sure to choose a sunny, sheltered position. Requires minimal pruning. Remove any broken, diseased or crossing branches in spring. Mulch in spring with manure or leafmould, especially on dry soils.
