Myriophyllum rubricaule 'Red Stem'

parrot's feather or Myriophyllum rubricaule

Product Image
An excellent oxygenating plant, Myriophyllum rubricaule 'Red Stem' has vivid red stems and feathery, green whorls of foliage. From the Latin ‘myrio’ meaning too many to count and ‘phyllum’ meaning leaves…you get the gist!

Perfect for smaller ponds and bog gardens, parrot’s feather is well suited to areas of full sun or partial shade. Tiny yellow flowers may be borne on the emergent leaf axils from June until August.

Please note that this red-stemmed species of Parrot's Feather (Myriophyllum rubricaule) is the non-invasive form and is available for sale under UK law.

How to care for Myriophyllum rubricaule Red Stem:

Myriophyllum can be grown in boggy soils or submerged in the margins of ponds, with the crown positioned up to a maximum depth of 25cm (10in) below the water surface. It can thrive in either full sun or partial shade.

Once established, it is relatively low-maintenance, requiring minimal aftercare. If excessive growth occurs, it can be pruned or removed as needed to maintain the desired appearance and size.
