Add soft, shimmering colour to your summer borders with these gorgeous dahlias. They make long-lived additions to the vase, and if cut regularly, they will continue to bloom well into autumn.

In each collection you will receive one tuber of each of the following cultivars:

  • Dahlia 'Wizard of Oz': Soft pink, pom-pom shaped flowers appear in profusion above the lush green foliage from midsummer to the onset of the frosty weather. Their colouring makes them easy to mix and they look particularly effective with other pastel shades - or for a bit of added oomph, blend in some strong pink tones. Grows to 80cm.

  • Dahlia 'Café au Lait': The flower colour of this gorgeous decorative dahlia is hard to describe, but imagine rich cream with a big dollop of peachy-pink and you will get the idea. However the colour is described, the flowers are lush and lovely. They can grow up to 25cm across, so will make a pretty spectacular display in the border. Grows to 120cm.

  • Dahlia 'Boom Boom White': Topping slender stems, which rise above the soft green foliage, these dahlias form neatly rounded clusters to 15cm across, which are flushed with just a hint of greenish yellow. Grows to 110cm.

  • Garden care:
Dahlia tubers can be planted outside after frost, or started off in pots under glass in late winter to early spring. Plant them horizontally approximately 12cm deep, making sure the ‘eyes’ are uppermost. Allow enough room between each tuber so the plants can grow and spread to their full size without being over-crowded. While in growth, provide a high-nitrogen liquid feed each week in June, then a high-potash fertiliser each week from July to September. Stake with canes or brushwood if it becomes necessary. In mild areas, leave them in situ over winter, but protect the crown with a generous layer of dry mulch. In colder areas, carefully lift and clean the tubers once the first frosts have blackened the foliage and allow them to dry naturally indoors. Then place the dry tubers in a shallow tray, just covered with slightly moist potting compost, sand or vermiculite and store in a frost-free place until planting out again.
    • Humans/Pets: Ornamental bulbs - not to be eaten
