This perennial sweet pea collection features magenta-red, rose pink, and pure white flowers on robust, twining stems that return year after year. Flowering over a long season, they bring lasting colour and a relaxed, cottage-garden to borders, containers, or ground cover. Ideal for cutting, they’re reliable and low maintenance, thriving in full sun or very lightly dappled shade.
How to care for Lathyrus latifolius collection:
To avoid dry conditions, and to ensure good soil contact around the rootball, we advise planting climbers at least 30cm (12in), and preferably 45-60cm (18-24in) away from the base of a wall or fence. An even larger distance should be maintained when planting climbers beside an existing tree or shrub.
Plant perennial sweet peas in fertile, well-drained soil in full sun, adding plenty of well-rotted organic matter to the location and backfill. Water regularly in dry spells to help them establish. Pinch out the tips of young shoots to promote bushy growth, and tie in stems as they climb.
After flowering, remove spent flowers to encourage more, and cut the whole

What's included:
In this collection you will receive one of each of the following varieties, each in a 9cm pot.
- Lathryus latifolius 'Red Pearl' : Pea-like, magenta-red flowers appear in slender-stemmed racemes, creating a prolonged and vibrant burst of colour throughout summer and early autumn. Well suited to pots and containers, especially when topped with a pyramid of stout canes that they can cling to as they climb. Removing the spent flowers as they fade will encourage more to form. Height to 2m.
- Lathryus latifolius 'White Pearl': The large, white flowers of this vigorous, tendril climber provide an attractive contrast to the blue-green leaves. Ideal for cutting, the flowers make long-lasting additions to summer bouquets and other fresh arrangements. They are particularly effective when grown as ground-cover in a lightly shaded position, where their flowers seem luminous. Height to 2m.
- Lathryus latifolius 'Rosa Perle': Winged stems bear attractively pinnate leaves, and throughout summer and early autumn, sprays of up to 15 rose pink flowers. These are followed by seedpods that can often be heard popping open on hot summer days to release their seed. Plant it amongst stronger pinks, purples and lilacs to great effect. Height to 2m.
