One of the loveliest varieties of our native evergreen fern, 'Herrenhausen' forms an elegant, lacy rosette of filigree-fine fronds, which contrast well with other shade-loving foliage plants. It looks great when used to line the edges of a border, or when planted in randon drifts or clumps through a shady border, where its elegance can be appreciated. The perfect plant for a naturalised or woodland setting, particularly when teamed with contrasting ferns or lush foliage plants.
How to care for Polystichum setiferum (Divisilobum Group) Herrenhausen:
Incorporate lots of well-rotted leaf mould, composted pine needles or garden compost into the planting hole. Either cut back the old foliage in early January to allow space for spring bulbs, or leave them in place until April when the new fronds appear.
