Producing masses of small, funnel shaped, lipstick red flowers in late spring and early summer, this compact, semi-evergreen azalea makes a great, year-round patio plant. Coping well in extremes of climates, 'Kazuko' requires moist, well-drained ericaceous compost or humus-rich, acid soil.
How to care for Rhododendron (Aronense Group) Kazuko:
When planting, incorporate well-rotted compost or manure into the planting hole and add some mycorrhizal fungi to aid root establishment. Apply a generous 5-7cm (2-3in) mulch of leaf mould around the base of the plant each spring. Protect from strong winter winds.

This shrub is semi-evergreen, so it can lose some of its leaves in winter. In colder regions or more exposed gardens, it may lose them all, but then fresh new foliage appears again in spring.
