Tellima grandiflora

fringe cups

Product Image
Tall spikes of bell-shaped, white or greenish-white flowers appear from May to July above rosettes of hairy, scalloped, emerald-green leaves.

Fringe cups make excellent semi-evergreen groundcover for a moist, shady shrub border or woodland garden. Best sheltered from cold, drying winds, Tellima grandiflora is a particularly valuable choice for difficult areas of dry shade.

How to care for Tellima grandiflora:

Plant 30-45cm (12-18in) apart in humus-rich, consistently moist but well-drained soil, ideally in part to full shade. Keep evenly watered and remove any tatty foliage in autumn.

Lift and divide clumps every couple of years in early autumn and re-plant with the crown just above the surface of the soil. Apply a generous 5-7cm (2-3in) mulch of well-rotted organic matter around the base of the plant in spring.
