This perennial dies back to below ground level each year in autumn, then fresh new growth appears again in spring.

Trifoliate blue-green leaves covered in soft hairs, offer a beautiful contrast for the conical clusters of magenta-red flowers, which open from silvery buds in summer. Attractive to beneficial insects including butterflies and bees, it is wonderful in naturalised planting styles. - Garden care: Grow in moist but well drained soil with a neutral pH in a sunny spot.
