Pinecone ornament - antique terracotta
Ornamental stone pine cones were beloved by the Romans and can still be found in the grounds of many a castle and country home. This one is made from terracotta and inspired by beautifully handmade designs produced in Tuscany to this day - but costs considerably less!
It brings a suggestion of antiquity to the garden. The finish is lightly distressed so it looks a little aged and weather beaten from the outset. You could stand it on a garden wall, nestle it in a corner of the patio, or even use a pair as decorative finials on top of gate posts (though you’ll need to secure them carefully).
