Tulipa 'Golden Apeldoorn'
Darwin hybrid tulip bulbs
- Position: full sun
- Soil: fertile, well-drained soil
- Rate of growth: average
- Flowering period: April
- Hardiness: fully hardy
- Bulb size:11/12
Glorious, golden yellow, cup-shaped flowers with a contrasting black centre and base in April and strap-like, grey-green leaves. These golden-yellow Darwin hybrid tulips look fantastic planted 'en masse' in a sunny, well-drained border. As well as providing a stunning mid-season display they make excellent and long-lasting cut flowers. - Garden care: In November or December plant bulbs 15-20cm (6-8in) deep in fertile, well-drained soil. After flowering deadhead and apply a balanced liquid fertiliser each week for the first month. Once the foliage has died down naturally lift the bulbs and store in a cool greenhouse.
- Humans: Harmful if eaten; skin allergen; Pets: Ornamental bulbs - not to be eaten
