This perennial dies back to below ground level each year in autumn, then fresh new growth appears again in spring.

  • Position: full sun
  • Soil: fertile, well-drained soil
  • Rate of growth: average
  • Flowering period: June
  • Hardiness: fully hardy

Tightly packed spherical umbels of 50 or more white, star-shaped flowers appear on upright, ribbed stems in early summer, and can be left on the plant for many months. 'Mount Everest' is a tall allium, with an outstanding architectural form that is ideally suited to gravel gardens.

  • Garden care: Avoid excessive moisture from late summer when dormant. Keep in mind that the foliage tends to die back by the time the flowers open in early summer.
