Award-winning perfumed daffodil collection

RHS AGM daffodil collection

Product Image
These daffodils are all noted for their fragrance. 'Minnow' has a gorgeous flower with a light scent and is an old heritage favourite that's suitable for growing in lawns or borders. 'Sailboat' has slender foliage and softly bicoloured flower heads that create a windswept effect, while 'Sweetness', being slightly taller, is great for the vase so you can enjoy the perfume indoors as well as out. The Royal Horticultural Society have awarded each of these narcissus the prestigious Award of Garden Merit.

How to care for Award-winning perfumed daffodil collection:

Plant 10-15cm (4-6in) deep from late summer to early autumn. After flowering feed with a balanced fertiliser, dead-head and allow the leaves to die back naturally before removing them.

What's included:

In each collection you will receive the following:

  • 10 x Narcissus 'Minnow': A tazetta daffodil bulb bred in 1962 with clusters of up to 5 pale yellow flowers on each stem, appearing in mid-spring and fading to a delicious cream as they mature. Quickly spreading to form good size clumps, they are ideal for planting beneath deciduous trees or shrubs where they will put on a wonderful early show. Anna Pavord describes this as a 'charmer' in her lovely book called 'Bulb'. Grows up to 18cm tall.

  • 10 x Narcissus 'Sailboat': Each stem can carry up to three sweetly scented flowers, so when planted en-masse, these jonquils not only look good, but smell great too. They have creamy white, windswept petals and a cup that fades from butter to cream as it matures. Plant plenty so you have some for cutting too. Grows up to 30cm tall.

  • 10 x Narcissus 'Sweetness' A jonquil daffodil bulb bred pre-1939, which produces a dainty single golden yellow flower on each stout stem. The quaint daffodil flower face follows the sun as it moves from sunrise to sunset. Reliable and hardy, it takes inclement weather in its stride and has really well-scented blooms, so try to place it near a pathway or seating area. Plant more than you think you will need as you will also want some for cutting - they will fill your home with their heady perfume. Grows up to 40cm tall.
