This perennial dies back to below ground level each year in autumn, then fresh new growth appears again in spring.

  • Position: full sun
  • Soil: moderately fertile, moist but well-drained soil (or John Innes no. 3 compost for containers)
  • Rate of growth: average to fast
  • Flowering period: May to October
  • Hardiness: half-hardy (will need winter protection)

The delicate lilac-blue daisy-like flowers of ‘Royal Blue’ are produced against fine, softly hairy, dark green leaves. Prolific and pretty half-hardy plants, these rooted cuttings will enhance the summer sunshine in bedding schemes, rockeries or hanging baskets.

Grown individually in cell trays, each plant measures about 7 - 10cm tall (from the base of the root to the top of the plant). Delivered in plastic-free packaging, they are ideal for keen gardeners who have a greenhouse, where the plants can be grown on until they are ready for planting outside after all risk of frost has passed.

Please note: We grow and reserve these for you, so we do request that full payment is made when you place your order. See above for despatch dates for this particular plant. To ensure that your plants arrive in the best possible condition each pack will be despatched individually. Please also be aware that the pot in the photograph is not supplied with the plants, however we do have a wonderful range on our website to choose from.

  • Garden care: Pot up and grow on under glass until all risk of frost has passed and they can be planted outside in a well-prepared bed or patio pot. Pinch out the growing tips to encourage bushier growth and apply a deep, dry mulch around the base of the plant in autumn if planted in open ground and protect with cloches or plant protection fleece if hard frost is forecast. If top growth is damaged by the cold, the plants often re-grow from the base in spring. While a perennial, this Brachyscome is often grown as an annual.
