This narrowly upright beech tree displays a fountain-like form, with slender arching limbs that cascade down. The deep purple leaves emerge tipped with red-bronze before darkening, and come autumn, the foliage transitions to golden copper hues for a brilliant finale. Small, inconspicuous flower catkins appear in late spring, and the smooth, silver-grey bark provides winter appeal, completing the seasonal showcase. Though it matures at 12m tall, the narrowly upright shape with airy, weeping side branches allow 'Purple Fountain' beech to fit smaller landscape settings.
