Lobelia erinus 'Crystal Palace'
lobelia
- Position: full sun or partial shade
- Soil: moderately fertile, humus-rich, well-drained soil or peat-free general purpose compost
- Rate of growth: average to fast
- Flowering period: May to October
- Hardiness: half-hardy annual (will need winter protection)
A dense covering of vivid, violet-blue flowers smothering neat, dark bronze-green foliage. This compact, half-hardy annual is perfect for rockeries, baskets and patio pots or for mixing with other lobelias to drift at the front of a sunny border. One of the darkest leaved and flowering blues, ‘Crystal Palace’ is certain to make a ‘Great Exhibition’ over the summer months.
Garden care:
Pot up and grow on under glass until all risk of frost has passed and they can be planted outside in a well-prepared bed. Pinching out the growing tips will encourage them to become bushier, and feed with a high-potash fertiliser at regular intervals throughout the summer.
