Showy umbels of exotic-looking, scarlet-red funnel-shaped flowers with gangly stamens appear on leafless stems in summer. Red spider lily, a bulbous perennial, makes a bold and quirky statement dotted around summer border plantings or on the patio in pots and containers.

How to care for Lycoris radiata:

Plant bulbs in April and May, ensuring the top of the bulb is exposed, spacing each bulb 10-15cm apart. Water in and keep hydrated whilst in active growth. Frost protection may be required in late spring with a double layer of horticultural fleece.
