Paeonia lactiflora 'Madrid'

patio peony

bare root plant £14.99
£44.97 £39.99

This perennial dies back to below ground level each year in autumn, then fresh new growth appears again in spring.

  • Position: full sun or partial shade
  • Soil: fertile, moisture-retentive yet well-drained
  • Rate of growth: average
  • Flowering period: June to July
  • Hardiness: fully hardy

Gorgeous, large, single white flowers with cream centres emerge between June and July. This compact and free-flowering herbaceous perennial is perfect for pots and containers. Choose a sheltered spot to ensure these elegant blooms remain in flower for as long as possible.

  • Garden care: Plant out as soon as possible after delivery, in a sunny spot with well-prepared soil. When placing your plant, make sure that the buds are facing upwards, and that these are no more than 2cm (1") below the soil surface. Water in well after planting. Then, in early spring, apply a balanced slow-release fertiliser around the base of the plant and mulch with well-rotted compost or manure.
  • Humans/Pets: Ornamental bulbs - not to be eaten
