Clusters of honey-scented, bell-shaped, creamy-white flowers in late spring and early summer and lustrous, deep green leaves, which are retained all year. Japanese mock orange makes a lovely specimen plant for a sunny, sub-tropical garden in a warm coastal site. Dense and rounded in habit, in frost-prone areas give it the protection of a south or west-facing wall.

How to care for Pittosporum tobira:

Requires minimal pruning. To thin or reduce growth prune mid-spring and apply a generous 5-7cm (2-3in) mulch of well-rotted garden compost or manure around the base of the plant.
