Erect stems bear densely packed, dark red flowerheads with red pink stamens in midsummer. They seem to hover in large numbers above the decorative mounds of attractive, fern-like foliage. 'Proud Mary' is great for adding vertical interest and movement to a mixed herbaceous bed, or mixing with ornamental grasses for a naturalised effect.
