Narcissus 'Actaea'
poeticus daffodil bulbs
- Position: full sun or partial shade
- Soil: well-drained soil
- Rate of growth: fast-growing
- Flowering period: late April
- Hardiness: fully hardy
- Bulb size: 12/14
An old-fashioned variety that has been awarded the Award of Garden Merit by the Royal Horticultural Society for it great qualities. The flowers are quite different from the traditional daff, having a ruff of large white outer petals and a small yellow cup edged with orange. They have a lovely scent and are said to be largely ignored by deer, so a good choice for a wild meadow. - Garden care: Wearing gloves plant bulbs 10-15cm deep and 10cm apart in autumn. After flowering feed with a balanced fertiliser, deadhead the flowers, but do not be tempted to cut back or tidy the foliage after flowering as this will interfere with the bulbs’ ability to store energy for the following year's flowers.
- Humans/Pets: Harmful if eaten; skin irritant
