This beautiful clump-forming perennial has mid-green, deeply lobed, toothed leaves and produces semi-double white flowers with a pale blue reverse, set on tall branched stems. Known for its vigorous growth and extended flowering period from summer to autumn, this plant makes a striking addition to woodland gardens or partially shaded borders. The blooms of Anemone ‘Ruffled Swan’ appear bluish when in bud or half-closed but open to reveal pure white petals with a yellow centre. Its soft, glossy foliage forms a tidy mound, and it thrives in a variety of soil types, making it a versatile choice for mixed borders or partially shaded spots.
How to care for Anemone Ruffled Swan ('Macane007') (PBR):
When planting, incorporate compost to improve drainage and fertility, spacing plants 30-45cm (12-18in) apart and watering thoroughly. Apply a layer of organic mulch to retain moisture. Cut back the stalks after the flowers have faded, and tidy up old dead leaves in March. Apply a generous 5-7cm (2-3in) mulch of well-rotted garden compost or manure around the base of the plant in spring. Avoid moving the plant since it resents disturbance. Where necessary, lift and divide congested clumps in early spring. This plant is quick to establish so spread may need to be checked annually.
