Cotoneaster salicifolius 'Repens'

cotoneaster

Product Image
A resilient and fast-growing semi-evergreen shrub, ideal for ground cover. ‘Repens’ forms a dense, prostrate mat with long, flexible stems and features glossy dark green leaves that transition to striking plum hues in autumn and falling during colder winters. Throughout summer, delicate clusters of white flowers grace its branches, giving way to small, red berries that are popular with birds. This versatile shrub thrives in various conditions, including exposed and dry sites, and adapts well to most soils, including clay.

Please note: This cotoneaster is listed on Schedule 9 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act (1981). It can be planted and contained in private gardens, although it is banned from being planted in the wild in England and Wales.

How to care for Cotoneaster salicifolius Repens:

After flowering in late spring or early summer, lightly cut back any branches that spoil the symmetry of the plant and apply a generous 5-7cm (2-3in) mulch of well-rotted garden compost or manure around the base of the plant. In autumn trim back lightly any branches that obscure the display of fruit.
