Eryngium × zabelii 'Neptune's Gold' (PBR)

golden-leaved sea holly

Product Image
Thistle-like cones of bright blue flowers are surrounded by a ruff of spiky bracts, which turn from silvery blue at their base to gold at their tips. These form on blue stems that are clothed with yellow foliage, so the overall effect is quite colourful.

Eryngium × zabelii 'Neptune's Gold' is a sun-loving plant that can be used in herbaceous borders or prairie-style planting schemes. The flowerheads are long-lasting and can be dried and added to arrangements.

How to care for Eryngium × zabelii Neptune's Gold (PBR):

Eryngium thrives in poor to moderately fertile, well-drained soil, ideally in full sun, while avoiding areas prone to wet winter conditions.

To enhance winter interest in your garden, resist cutting back the striking flower heads in autumn; instead, leave them to add structure through the colder months.

In spring, trim back the old stems to make way for fresh growth from the emerging foliage, ensuring the plant remains healthy and vigorous for the new season.
