This large, bushy deciduous magnolia unveils voluminous and highly fragrant double white blossoms distinguished by rich crimson stamens in late spring and early summer. As if this stunning showcase wasn't enough, a second flush of the heavily scented flowers sometimes occurs in late summer for a doubly dramatic effect. The lush dark foliage provides a perfect verdant backdrop, highlighting 'Eileen Baines' abundantly packed white blooms to full advantage whether in spring or late summer.
Requires minimal pruning. Remove any broken, diseased or crossing branches in midsummer. Plant in a sheltered spot, adding plenty of ericaceous compost to the planting hole. Mulch in spring with manure and leafmould, especially in dry soils.
