Bursting into summer with a vibrant display, this upright, short-lived perennial, often grown as an annual, boasts two-lipped scarlet flowers up to 5cm (2”) in length throughout the season. Anchored by creeping rhizomes, it adds a fiery splash to your reliably damp or boggy spots (even happy in shallow, marginal conditions). The flexibility to trim as needed throughout the growing season allows for easy maintenance, and a strategic removal of seed heads ensures an encore of prolific flowering.
These plants are potted up (using a suitable aquatic compost) into aquatic pots. These pots are made of a fine mesh, which allows water to circulate through the compost, providing the plants with both oxygen and nutrients. If you are using them as an aquatic plant, they can be placed straight into the pond up to a water depth of 10cm (4"). Protect emerging shoots from slugs and snails.
