This is an improved Japanese variety that is ideal for planting early, and can provide a crop ready to harvest in May to June. The onions are a nice globe shape and have a mild flavour. The young ones can also be used as spring onions in salads.

Plant this onion from October to January, 3cm deep and 12cm apart. Lift the onions when they aremature (normally in August) and allow them to dry before using.
