Fresh white flowers can transform a planting scheme, and this compact perennial delivers them in abundance. Forming a neat clump of mid-green, lance-shaped foliage, it creates a tidy base that works beautifully in patio pots, balcony planters or at the front of a sunny, well-drained border.
Through summer and into autumn, green-tinged buds open to crisp, funnel-shaped white blooms, each one detailed with dark purple speckles and subtle green flushing at the throat. The flowers sit just above the foliage, giving a light, fluttering effect while still providing solid, repeat colour over many weeks.
Part of the reliable Inticancha series, Alstroemeria Inticancha Magic White is naturally compact, easy to manage and impressively long flowering. It’s a practical choice if you want clean white tones, steady performance and a plant that keeps your outdoor space looking bright.
How to care for Alstroemeria Inticancha Magic White ('Tesmaghwi') (Inticancha Series):
Plant in fertile, moist but well-drained soil in a sunny or lightly shaded position, ideally sheltered from strong winds. If planting into large containers, use a general-purpose potting compost. Water regularly during the growing season, especially in dry spells, but avoid waterlogging.
Newly planted Alstroemerias should be given a very generous 20cm (8in) deep mulch of chipped bark in their first winter to help the plants become established. In subsequent autumns, provide a dry mulch of bracken or bark chippings to help protect the crowns.
After flowering, cut back the faded flower-stems, but make sure you always wear gloves when working with Peruvian lilies, as contact with the foliage may cause skin irritation.
