Product Image
Astilbe 'Dark Side of the Moon' stands out with its striking dark chocolate-purple foliage, complemented by mauve buds that open into dense, rosy-purple flowers on dark red stems. This hardy perennial thrives in damp soil, making it an excellent choice for cool, shady areas or near water. With its vigorous growth, 'Dark Side of the Moon' quickly forms a dense, well-branched mound, perfect for borders, containers, and mass plantings. It pairs beautifully with bright blooms like begonias or zingy green grasses, creating a vibrant summer display that's also pollinator-friendly.

How to care for Astilbe Darkside of the Moon (PBR):

Ideal for waterside planting or consistently moist garden areas, Astilbe dislike drought and can become scorched in hot sun. Therefore, try to find a spot with reliably moist or boggy soil, where the will receive lightly dappled or indirect light.

To maintain healthy growth, lift and divide large clumps every three to four years in late winter or early spring, discarding any old, woody rhizomes. This will encourage vigorous new growth and continued flowering.
