Bistorta amplexicaulis 'Blackfield' (PBR)
red bistort (syn. Persicaria amplexicaulis Blackfield)

With spikes of intense blood-red flowers that open over a long period from even darker buds, 'Blackfield' is a first rate perennial that not only looks great, but it will also help attract beneficial insects including bees. Even when not in bloom, the relatively large (to 10cm in length) oval to heart shaped foliage offers interest.
How to care for Bistorta amplexicaulis Blackfield (PBR):
Incorporate a generous amount of composted organic matter or well-rotted manure into the backfill during planting. Once established, lift and divide congested clumps in spring or autumn.
