Bupleurum rotundifolium 'Griffithii'

Product Image
Fast becoming a florist's favourite, the chartreuse-green flowers, which appear in small clusters above the blue-green foliage, make a fine addition to fresh or dried arrangements. Their colouring enhances the strong purples, pinks and plums, while their airy delicacy adds movement and light.

Bupleurum rotundifolium 'Qis Griffithii' was once a common sight in cornfields but is now all but missing from our landscape.

How to care for Bupleurum rotundifolium Griffithii:

Once seedlings are established, thin them out or transplant to their final spacing. Pinch out growing tips to promote bushy, compact growth. In windy or exposed sites, support taller plants with twigs or brushwood to prevent flopping. Water during dry spells and keep the area weed-free.

Sowing instructions:

For early summer flowers, sow seed in trays or pots and keep in a cold frame. When large enough to handle, then them out, potting on the extras and harden off before planting outside. Later sowings can be done in a well-prepared seed bed outside and thinned out until there is approximately 45cm (18in) between each plant.
