Lawson's cypress 'Ellwoods Pillar'
A handsome, and sought after little conifer that offers year round interest with its dense, columnar habit. The foliage is densely-packed and ranges in colour from grey-green to blue-green, so it offers an accent colour as well as its structural form. It looks great in a pot when placed either side of a doorway, but if planted in the border, team it with either ground-covering or mound-forming plants to add visual interest.
How to care for Chamaecyparis lawsoniana Ellwood's Pillar ('Flolar'):
Apply a generous layer of mulch around the base of the plant (avoiding the immediate crown) in late winter. Pruning is not usually necessary, however any shoots that ruin the symmetry of the plant can be removed in autumn.
